Search Clark County Residents Directory

To search the Clark County residents directory, begin with the name or address you already have. A parcel record can connect an address to an owner, while a recorded document can place a person in a dated transaction. Court, election, and library sources answer different questions and often need to be compared. Clark County covers cities, unincorporated towns, and rural communities, so the address itself helps identify the right custodian. Treat every result as a dated lead, then confirm the role, location, and record type before relying on it.

Finding Clark County Residents

Clark County does not keep one universal list of everyone who lives here. The strongest starting point depends on the question. An address works best in the Assessor’s parcel system; a person connected to a deed or lien may appear in the Recorder’s official-records index; and an older household may surface first in a library directory or newspaper. An owner field is not proof of occupancy, and a voter-file entry has a different purpose from a parcel card. Keep the date and role next to every result.

A useful first pass keeps the record trail narrow. Start with the exact address when the property is known, or start with a full name and a time period when the person is known. Then use a second, independent source to test the match. This avoids joining two people who share a name or treating a tax mailing address as the place where someone lives.

  1. Search the Clark County Assessor’s real-property records by address, owner, or parcel route and note the APN and situs.
  2. Use the APN in the AssessorMap service to inspect parcel, lotline, and easement context.
  3. Search the Recorder official-records index by name, APN, instrument, or date.
  4. For a historical household, compare dated directories, maps, and newspaper material held by UNLV and the Library District.
  5. When a record is not online, ask the actual custodian for the specific document or nonexempt portion under Nevada public-record law.

Note: An empty portal result can reflect spelling, coverage, sealed material, or a technical limit rather than a negative fact.

Clark County Resident Records Offices

Three county offices supply much of the Clark County residents directory trail. The Assessor connects parcels, owner or vesting fields, situs, assessment detail, maps, and sales leads. The Recorder indexes parties to recorded documents such as deeds, liens, maps, and marriage certificates. Elections publishes voter-list data files and an authenticated individual lookup, but neither should be mistaken for a name-only public directory. Court and vital records have separate custodians and access limits.

The County Clerk handles marriage and county administrative records, while the Eighth Judicial District Court Clerk handles court files. County public-record guidance also says that police, detention, and court records may belong to other custodians. Sending a narrow request to the right office is faster than asking a general county mailbox for every record about a name.

Clark County Parcel Search

The Assessor’s real-property record routes include parcel number, owner, address, subdivision, subdivision owners, parcel type or book-page, parcel tree, and map inquiry. These fields make a parcel a practical bridge between a street address and the recorded-document trail. Save the APN, situs address, property type, subdivision or legal-description lead, and the access date before moving to another system.

A parcel is the unit the county uses to identify a piece of land. The situs address is the property’s location, while a mailing address is a contact field for tax purposes. They can differ. Parcel maps are assessment aids, not legal surveys, so a recorded deed, subdivision map, or survey controls when the legal boundary matters.

APN
Assessor parcel number, the identifier that helps connect the parcel card, map, and recorded documents.
Situs
The displayed location of the parcel, different from a tax-mailing address.
Parcel tree
An Assessor route that can help show parcel relationships after a split or merger.
Legal description
The recorded lot, block, subdivision, or other land description used to confirm continuity.

Note: Follow legal descriptions and recorded maps when an older address does not match the current parcel identifier.

Clark County Recorder Name Index

The Clark County Recorder index searches name, parcel number, instrument number, document type, book or page, recording date, total value, and legal description. A name query uses a last name or company name, with an optional first name, match logic, book type, date range, show-names control, and document-type filter. It records a party’s role in a filed instrument, not where that person lives now.

Date and document typeNarrow a long result list to the time and kind of record needed.
Legal descriptionTest whether older and current parcel references point to the same land.

The Recorder’s copy-order page lists $1 per page, $4 certification, a 2% total online fee plus $1.25, and typical PDF email delivery in one to two business days. Mail and in-person routes remain available. For pre-1988 records, the office asks requestors to email for a page count when needed.

Use the official copy-order instructions before ordering the instrument image.

The copy route supplies the document image that can confirm details an index summary abbreviates. The recorded image and legal description carry more weight than a shorthand result label.

Clark County Voter Records

Clark County voter-list data files provide weekly downloadable material by district and active or inactive status. The Elections Department also offers a registered-voter walking-list route for address research. Those records can supply a dated registration lead, precinct, district, and status, but they are not a census and do not prove someone is physically present at an address.

Active status means election mail has not been returned. It does not measure how often a person voted. Nevada law can withhold confidential fields, and a CAP substitute mailing address is never evidence of a person’s actual location. The individual voter login requires first and last name, last four digits of a Social Security number or driver-license number, and birth date, so it is not an open name search.

See the official voter-file information for the current download context.

Use the file date, district filters, and confidentiality limits as part of the record citation. A voter entry should be corroborated with a separate dated source.

The Clark County registered-voter lookup shows the authenticated route rather than a public name-only search.

The required identifying fields protect the lookup from becoming a broad public-name search. Use the Elections Department’s published files or the proper custodian for other lawful research.

Note: Protected voter fields are omitted from available files and should never be reconstructed from another record source.

Clark County Court Search

Eighth Judicial District CourtFinder separates party, case-number, judge, and bar-number searches, with party-type filters and a date range of up to 30 days. District Court Clerk records begin in September 1909, although most online coverage is described as 1990 to the present. Sealed, protected, family, and trial-locked material can be missing from the display.

Justice courts use separate jurisdictions and portals. The Las Vegas Justice Court portal has civil, criminal, traffic, and calendar routes, and traffic updates can take three to four weeks. A court result identifies a case or filing lead. It does not settle identity from a name alone or replace the official file at the clerk counter.

View the CourtFinder search path before choosing the responsible court.

Keep the case number, party role, event date, and result date together. If portal coverage is incomplete, the District Court’s public research counters are at the Regional Justice Center and Family or Juvenile court locations.

Current Clark County Resident Rolls

Current Clark County resident-directory sources each describe a different relationship to a place. An Assessor card can show an owner or vesting field and a parcel location. The Recorder can show parties to a recorded transaction. Elections data represents registration at a file date. None alone establishes the full household at an address. For a one-person verification path, use the dedicated Clark County resident lookup resource after first separating the person from same-name results.

A comparison with commercial people-finder products is simple: official rolls identify the custodian, record type, date, and access limit, while a commercial compilation may combine sources without showing its underlying date or role. Use original custodians for confirmation, corrections, and document copies.

Clark County Jurisdiction Layers

An address with a Las Vegas mailing city may be inside the City of Las Vegas, another incorporated city, an unincorporated town, or a rural county community. Clark County includes Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas, Boulder City, and Mesquite, plus unincorporated and rural areas. A postal city, Assessor situs, ZIP polygon, municipal boundary, and TAB or CAC area can all differ.

Use the Clark County Composite ZIP geocoder and parcel mapping to route the address. The result can return a candidate ZIP, but it cannot establish residence or choose the responsible municipal custodian by itself. For street-by-street work, the Clark County street directory follows the APN, GIS, recorder, and permit sequence in more detail.

Note: Verify the city or county agency from the parcel and boundary layer, not from a mailing-city label alone.

Historical Clark County Resident Sources

Historical Clark County resident directories are strongest when paired with a map, newspaper, deed, permit, or census source. UNLV’s microform record describes Nevada Territory city directories for 1861 through 1882 on four reels. Those directories can include residents, occupations, residences, heads of family, firms, institutions, and street-directory material. They are collection records, not a promise of a digitized full-text search.

The local trail becomes richer in later decades. Research located Las Vegas telephone-directory leads for 1931, 1934, 1937 to 1938, and 1946; a Directory of Las Vegas and Clark County for 1954 to 1955; and catalog leads for 1954, 1957, and 1959. Verify the exact edition and holding with the library or archive before treating any lead as a viewable volume.

The UNLV Jack K. Leavitt Collection has 1968 to 1981 homeowner, address, street-sequence, ownership, parcel-number, and map indexes, with bulk coverage from 1973 to 1981. It is a particularly useful dated address source, not a current roll.

Clark County Archive Shelves

The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District genealogy resources describe library-card access to historical newspapers, city directories, census material, and several genealogy databases. HeritageHub is described there as a resource with about 3,900 newspapers and 63 million obituary or death-notice listings. Search result text is a lead; preserve the publication title, date, page, and access conditions before making a historical claim.

UNLV’s Nevada newspaper holdings list Las Vegas Age material from 1905 through 1947 and Review-Journal holdings beginning in 1949. The Nevada Historical Society research library holds books, newspapers, manuscripts, maps, state documents, ephemera, and photographs, but its notice reports renovation closure from January 2025 through December 2026 with limited access. Contact the institution before planning a visit.

Clark County Privacy Limits

NRS 239.010 generally opens Nevada public books and records during office hours unless another law makes information confidential. It does not make every field available. Voter records can omit protected details, vital records have release and qualified-applicant rules, court matters can be sealed, and recorder records can have confidentiality mechanisms for protected people and officials.

If an office denies a request, ask for the nonexempt portion and the legal basis for the withholding. The county records-request guidance sends requests to the actual custodian, and NAC 239 addresses media and fee estimates. Preserve source dates, disclose uncertainty, and avoid describing an owner, party, voter, or directory entry as a present resident without independent evidence.

Clark County Records Change

Clark County’s record trail spans different systems and eras. The county formed in 1909, Las Vegas incorporated in 1911, and the courthouse was completed in 1914. Older research can require Recorder, Clerk, court, city-commission, directory, newspaper, map, and archive sources. Modern portals add GIS, Assessor, Accela, voter-file, court, and Recorder routes, each with separate coverage and update practices.

The Recorder public index is not an online image archive. District Court records begin in September 1909, with most 1990-present material described as online. Assessor subscription sales data is described as approximately 1994 forward. A blank result needs a coverage check, spelling check, custodian check, and date check before it means anything. Label every finding as current, historical, or unresolved.

Note: Keep the source URL, record or publication date, retrieval date, role, and confidence level with every Clark County directory result.
